Can You Get All Starter Pokemon in Pokemon Emerald?
No. You cannot obtain all three starter Pokemon in the same save file in Pokemon Emerald.
At the beginning of the game, you must choose one starter Pokemon.
The other two starters do not become available later through normal gameplay.
The same rule applies in Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire.
Why This Moment Feels Uncertain
At the start of the game, Professor Birch asks the player to choose one Pokemon from his bag.
Once the player selects one of the Poké Balls, the story immediately continues.
Later in the game, the rival receives one of the remaining starters.
Because of this setup, players may wonder:
- If the remaining starters can be obtained later
- If another event later gives access to the other starters
The game never explains what happens to the remaining Pokemon.
What Actually Happens
In Pokemon Emerald:
- You receive only one starter Pokemon.
- Your rival receives one of the remaining starters.
- The final starter is never obtainable during the playthrough.
None of the three Hoenn starters appear in the wild during the game.
Starter selection is one of several irreversible decisions in the game.
Once the choice is made, the other starters cannot be obtained during the same playthrough.
In Short
You can only obtain one starter Pokemon during a normal playthrough of Pokemon Emerald.
The other two starters are not available later in the game.
